Have you ever wanted someone in the worst possible way
But been much too afraid to try
I think we both know why I’ve come to this place
We should both stop living this lie.
You know that my intentions were of nothing but the purest
Still you needed so much more than I gave
A love of this breed can not cease to be full
I see now that we can’t be saved.
It was easy at first to believe in you
To accept your every word without a doubt
But the truth was my promise long ago made to you,
And you I must somehow live without.
You loved with the power of the sea and moon
And yet I gave you my all
Why was it that the world wasn’t enough for you?
Why was it me who had to fall?
As your ears listen tentatively to my thoughtful words
You silently begin to cry
Do you see now your mistakes in love?
Can you let go and say good-bye?
I’m leaving you because of your endless rage
I’m loving you forever as a friend
My hands begin to tremble as I close this verse
For I now understand this love’s end.
